Hello there! I wanted to take a moment to share a little about me so you know who you’re doing Business with, and who is cooking your food!
My name is Christina Bahrs, and my (very-Italian) maiden name is MORELLI. I am the baby of a big Italian family, and if you know any Italians, you know that food is a big part of our lives. Whenever we make plans to do anything, one of the first considerations is what we will be eating. So from major events to backyard picnics my Dad was always cooking up something absolutely amazing.
I remember as a young girl growing up in Ct., my Dad would go to the grocery store almost every day. It's no surprise, then, that grocery shopping is actually my favorite kind of shopping. It’s funny, but whenever we would go to gatherings at someone else’s house, somebody would always comment that my extra clothes were always in a grocery bag while everybody else’s were in department store bags.
As I got old enough to work, I was always working in the food industry. From hosting to serving and bartending, but always around good food. People would regularly tease me that I was only working for the meal discount... and they were right! As time passed, my experience led me to managing restaurants, which I loved immensely. I have always loved cooking for and entertaining friends and family, and enjoying the food with them as well! I have often said if there is one thing that works on my body it’s my taste buds.
Throughout my life I have moved around a bit due to life’s circumstances, and I've had the pleasure to experience a variety of different cuisines. I have always dreamed of opening my own restaurant, but have never been settled in one place long enough to allow that dream to come true. But regardless, I was blessed to have two beautiful daughters, who I raised on a beautiful 400 acre farm with 6 ponds, 2 miles of river front, with every kind of farm animal and wonderful fresh vegetables and herbs that you can imagine. My daughters are now grown, and I have since happily settled in the greater Wilmington area.
In April of 2020 I was finally in the process of opening my very own Steakhouse, but unfortunately the COVID pandemic took over the world, and took my dream with it. But I wasn't ready to give up that easy. I knew I had to come up with another idea, another way to get my passion, my cooking, and my delicious flavors to the people. That is when GOURMET on the GO was created. I decided not only to make delicious food, but to bring it right to you! Gourmet flavors, at reasonable prices, in the comfort of your own home.
I truly appreciate and thank you for the time you have taken to look at my menu, my business, and now my story. I thank our Grand God, Jehovah, for not only this business which has kept me going through the pandemic, but also for all of you, my wonderful customers, and for what I think is one of our grandest blessings - our taste buds!
